How to stop "Apple wants to make some changes"

A few days ago, we have next message from our user:

I would like to share my experience in dealing with pop-up malwares and one of its representatives ,namely "Apple wants to make changes", which I’ve come across myself. One day I got such a pop-up as "Apple wants to make changes". As an obedient Apple user I entered my password. Then a brilliant idea crossed my mind- I decided to surf the net and found some information about it. To my big sorrow, that pop-up turned out to be a threat. Without thinking I changed my MAC access password, ran Malwarebytes (antimalware program), got rid of what it detected and cleared cache, history and website data. I’m not the only person, to whom that unpleasant story’s happened. I would like to give must-know information about this malware. As a saying goes forewarned is forearmed. Let’s start with the common facts. It's a representative of the browser hijacking malware, which can get inside your browser effortlessly and start to change its settings. As for its abilities, it can make your default browser generate a lot of sponsored commercial messages, pay-per-click ads and blinking boxes during each browser session, change a search engine, create page-redirects, you don’t expect at all. Eventually, you’ll get sick and tired of an endless stream of pop-ups, banners, ads and unexpected page-redirects!

So, I decide to share some advices about the malware.

Apple wants some changes

Speaking about its danger, it isn’t as dangerous as it seems to be at first sight. The applications of these types just install some new tools, toolbars, homepages, search engines and so on, but they do these things without asking us. That fact makes our blood boil. Still, it can cause some browsing disturbance, because it may redirect to unfamiliar advertising sites, which use this malware as a tool for attracting a target audience. Nothing surprising, sellers want to get more money and they've found this very tool for boosting sales.

To my mind, this approach to increasing sales seems rather embarrassing, because it doesn’t respect a customer at all. If you’ve got into this situation, you’re sure to desire to get out of it as soon as possible. Before giving you advice how to do it, let's clear up some myths about the browser hijacker. Firstly, hijackers aren't an actual form of malware and they aren't able to put your device safety under the threat. Secondly, they have nothing in common with Trojan. But you may ask yourself at heart:" What's all the excitement about?" The simple answer is that we all are human beings and we're rather inattentive. We don't take the installing process under our control and these hijackers slip out of our view. For example, we install a soft bundle and some hijackers are included in it as optional or additional components. They get installed by default and start their work. In order to avoid such unpleasant apps, I highly recommend you to read must- know advice and follow it:

1. Be more attentive to the set up manager of every software you decide to install on your device.

2. Opt for the advanced/ custom/ manual options instead of the standard / quick ones

3. Remove any pre-selected checkmarks to undesired applications.

4. Be away from any free download links, spam emails, ads and pop- ups, which want you to try or install any brand new add-ons.

5. Get rid of it as soon as you find it on your tool

How to remove virus

Step 1. Check recently added applications

The first step is to detect and remove malware from your computer. When you go to the "Applications" menu, you will see a complete list of all the programs that are installed on your computer. You should study this list and delete all programs that you do not use, that were installed without your knowledge or who are distrusting you. This way you will get rid of many unwanted programs and viruses.

  • Click Applications in the Finder sidebar
  • Drag unwanted program to the Trash
  • Empty Trash

Step 2. Clean the browser

The second step is cleaning the browser. Most users notice that their computer is infected, only because of browser issues. In most cases, applications for the browser are not needed at all, and if you do not use VPN or applications to block ads, then the application list should be empty. If there are applications in the list, and you do not know where they came from, they should be deleted. Browser applications are a usual form of adware and browser hijackers, so clearing the list you’ll make your web surfing more convenient.
